Definition of Article Directory

An article directory is a website that contains a catalogue of articles written by various authors on a range of topics. It contains a specialized system that allows authors writing articles on different subjects to submit their work to be read by other persons who may be interested in a particular topic in the articles. The system allows the authors to receive direct connections to a target website by providing a link to other sites. This ensures that their links are popularized and receive higher ratings from readers who find such links important to them. To send an article to an article directory, an author registers his articles with an article directory site of his choice and then proceeds to submit his work. Once submitted, the articles are checked for quality and standards after which they are approved and added to the catalogue of existing articles within the article directory (Paul 3).

This system of sharing is unique as it allows authors to advertise their expertise and competence effectively to a particular target group. The links to an author website are enhanced by a process called tagging. This is a unique identification tool that contains the content and subject matter of a given article on the free article directory catalogue. The use of tags facilitates easier access of an article since search is based on the subject matter and content of the articles. Once articles are launched on the free articles directory, an author may receive ratings from online readers who access articles and this increases flow to an author’s website. Such an increase in access to an author’s website through an articles directory gives such an author an upper hand in enjoying greater publicity.

An article directory operates in a very unique way. An author interested in posting articles on an article directory is provided with a resource box for each article. A resource box basically contains the details of the author which includes the name, subject matter of the topic discussed and the DoFollow links to his website. When an author places an article for listing on an article submission site, he basically grants consent for reprint of such article by the content publishers who are then required to provide the same author with a resource box. This ensures that the authors work is shared across to readers and also to have an opportunity to view ratings and clientele feedback through his website.

There are many benefits that come with posting articles to article directories. First, an author whose article appears on the articles directory is categorized and rated by search engines. This is advantageous as any search by a reader on a particular topic is likely to lead to an author’s website if the subject matter in question is similar to that on the article directory. This exposes such an author to an unlimited clientele base as well as boosting his reputation and visitor traffic to the website. Second, if an author publishes many articles, then he is likely to be identified as an expert in his area of writing and this may influence many readers to trust information from his website and equally recommend him. Third, an author is exposed to so many readers making it easier to market his articles for gain. Finally, as an author makes more publications, he receives backlinks to his website and this improves his websites positioning in search engines and possibly PageRank (Wendy 12).

Creating an article directory is important for authors who are interested in forming a voluminous gallery of articles. The process creating an article directory is simple as long as the interested party has the correct software for example Word press (Jason 5). The first procedure involves proposing a domain name, which is the address that readers shall use to access articles on the website for example one can propose Once the selected domain name has been authenticated, web hosting is done to launch the articles to the website. This procedure is done cautiously to prevent the article volume from exceeding the available band width and ensure that the server speeds are not lowered should a reader try to access the website. The next procedure involves choosing a theme and plug in. The theme forms the formal outlooks of the website page while the plug in are essential in varying word press on the article site. After the selection of theme and plug in, down loading is done with similar plug in to create a site theme. Finally, the formed theme in installed followed by an immediate activation which creates an article directory.

The use of articles directory in communication and media has proved vital to many authors as it offers the best publicity of articles enabling a wide clientele base to access those materials which in turn increases their trust in the quality of work of a given author. The fact that an author’s article is accessed by many clients means that more returns are accrued. A good example of an article directory is
